Our grandmas fought to get the vote a hundred years ago
but folks of color had to keep on fighting even more
Today we fight an evil push to take our rights away

They want to take us back to when the rich men ruled the land,
when women, blacks & poor folk from the voting booth were banned
But this is our democracy, and this is our demand:

Vote suppression is their ploy – yet:

They gerrymander us right off the map – it’s how they play
They kick us off the rolls if we just look a certain way
They want to kill democracy, and that is why we say:

We’ve got to join together, brown and yellow, black and white,
progressives and the union folks, and fight with all our might
to show the fascist wannabes they cannot take our rights!

Democracy is under siege:
our very right to vote
imperiled by Republicans –
the lies that they promote

Unite and fight for voting rights!
Together we must win!
If all the citizens can vote,
Republicans will lose.
They know their policies are trash
that voters just won’t choose
And so they scam and rig and cheat,
and purge the voter rolls,
and gerrymander and restrict
our access to the polls
So everyone, let’s rally ‘round -
democracy’s at stake!
Let’s kick the fascist crazies out
right now, for freedom’s sake!

Unite and fight for voting rights!
