Democracy is under siege 

by lawless kleptocrats

They’re waging war on we the people,

for immigrants dehumanized

and for struggling refugees

We’ll push back on the propaganda

and we’ll refute the lies

We’ll shelter neighbors targeted

What child is there who wants to grow  

in toxic air and dis-ease?

Christmas doesn’t seem so bright 

When our money is so tight

So here’s a plan for next year 

Let’s forget the shopping spree 

let’s give the gift of love, so 

all our Christmas gifts are free!

We come from far nations

burdened by a memory

Longing for freedom, safety and survival

We come here seeking shelter

We come here needing kindness    

We come here seeking justice  

for all immigrants

What would Jesus do in Palestine?

He was born there, after all

What would he teach as we reach Christmastime,

with bombs continuing to fall? 

Everybody knows that

Muslims are God’s children, too

We must make the planet right

Children of God – 

Christian, Muslim and Jew

deserve to sleep in peace tonight

We pray that peace is on its way

We’ll stop the flow of weapons

from the USA!

And every mother’s child

is gonna live

And someday everyone 

will come to forgive

And so,

we’re offering this simple prayer

to folks of every faith and view:

May you be blessed 

with all kindness and care

and may peace be  with you!

The first noel the angels did say

was to tell us, 

“Remember that peace is the way.”

So, upon this Christmas Day, 

let us vow to end war

Be a nation of peace 

and we’ll fight no more!

It’s our taxes that support 

funding wars round the world

It’s our own politicians 

we have to implore

Stop the bombing, stop the drones,

stop the killing and pain

three armored tanks, two GI Joes, 

and a six-shooter holster and gun

On the 4th day of Christmas we gave our little ones

four action war games, 3 armored tanks, 2 GI Joes,

and a six-shooter holster and gun

On the fifth day of Christmas we gave our little ones

glorified war!

Violence and gore, and horror! 

Look what we have done:

We’ve been teaching them war from day one!

Now we’re shocked that our country

is full of violence – gun-happy killers!

What’s wrong with them?!

Maybe we should look at what we’re 

teaching little ones

And stop teaching them killing and guns

We should rather be teaching them tolerance & love

Let’s give our children:

games of joy and laughter, 

friendship and kindness, 

gentle compassion, 

artistic beauty, love for the planet ... 

LET’S TEACH THEM PEACE!    

Joy to all the world, good will and healing harmony:

Give our children the gift of world peace!
